FORWARDS: Pilots of long-term climate impact forest monitoring sites.
FORWARDS is a Horizon Europe project that will prototype the ForestWard Observatory, a pan-European monitoring and evaluation tool that will help in demonstrating the impact of climate change on forests, guiding decision-making for practical forest management. As part of its activities, FORWARDS will establish a network of pilot monitoring plots/sites to assess the long-term impact of climate change on forest ecosystems. These pilot plots/sites need to be linked to existing forest monitoring networks and provide spatial representativeness.
With this call, FORWARDS aims to compile an exhaustive open-access European forest disturbance reference dataset. Such a dataset will allow for (i) producing statistically rigorous estimates of disturbances in Europe, (ii) developing new methods for the near real-time forest disturbance mapping using remote sensing data, and (iii) analyzing the effects of different types of disturbances over different forest types across Europe.

EU DigiTOUR is calling for traditional tourism SMEs who are eager to embark on a journey, implementing digital technologies (AR/VR; IoT; Big Data; and AI) to elevate their business.
The Hackathon events will be celebrated in person in Croatia, Italy, and Germany. The events will be celebrated in a hybrid way (in presence at local level + online). 45 tourism SMEs will team-up and compete for 30 vouchers (10,000€) to be assigned at the end of the Hackathons. REINFORCING: supports organizations and institutions in Europe to transition to a new paradigm where responsibility and openness drive research and innovation processes.
