Sploro was on the move this May, participating in a series of high-impact events across Europe. Our team contributed to crucial conversations around post-quantum cryptography, living labs in healthcare, sustainable food innovation, and startup support. At each stop, we highlighted our commitment to securing Europe’s digital future and driving inclusive innovation through cascade funding opportunities. Let us walk you through this exciting journey across cities, sectors, and stories that are shaping the future of European tech.
From May 13 to 15, Sploro participated in the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress (BCC25) and IoT Solutions World Congress, representing PQ-REACT. Mikel Apesteguia engaged with industry leaders and innovators to raise awareness about Europe’s need for post-quantum readiness. PQ-REACT’s Open Call 2 was promoted throughout the congress, emphasizing support for the development of secure post-quantum cryptography (PQC) solutions.
The event offered powerful reminders of what’s at stake. As discussed by speakers like Dr. Alexander Loew and Marta Estarellas, quantum computing is no longer science fiction. Its benefits (from breakthroughs in medicine to advances in AI) are matched by risks, especially the looming “store now, decrypt later” threat.
Mikel’s reflections captured a key takeaway: the future of computing is hybrid, building on classical foundations while embracing quantum precision. Contributions from TECNALIA and Microsoft reinforced the urgency of preparing infrastructure, devices, and institutions for the post-quantum era. Through PQ-REACT, Sploro is helping drive that transformation.
Meanwhile, David Gaburici attended the EVOLVE2CARE consortium meeting and the HWLL2025 Symposium in Istanbul. On May 12, project partners aligned internally on strategy, tools, and the next Open Call. The following day, they joined international stakeholders from the global Living Lab network to explore digital experimentation in transitional care.
During the symposium, Sploro co-led an interactive workshop titled “Unlocking HealthTech Innovation: Living Labs & Transitional Care with EVOLVE2CARE,” moderated alongside ViLabs and chaired by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The session highlighted the project’s vision and promoted co-creation between innovators and healthcare professionals. The experience reinforced the value of collaboration, people and progress.
Sploro also made a strong appearance at Podim Conference in Maribor, Slovenia, one of Europe’s most influential startup events. Our CEO Miguel García took the stage to deliver a talk on “Building Bridges: Funding from the Lab to the Market through Cascade Funding,” reinforcing how EU-backed instruments help startups scale innovative solutions.
The conference also gave us an opportunity to strengthen the Women TechEU ecosystem. Sploro reconnected with startup founders and mentors from the EmpoWomen Programme, underlining our ongoing support for women leadership in tech.
On May 14, Virginia Gómez and Marina Ortega represented Sploro at Food 4 Future – Expo FoodTech. The event brought together leaders in the agrifood industry, startups, research centers, and public entities exploring the future of food through digitalization and sustainability. They used this opportunity to promote SPADE, an EU project that funds smart agro-forestry drone solutions.
Throughout the day, our team engaged with forward-thinking agritech organizations, discovering potential synergies and new collaboration opportunities. We also joined the Foodtech Startup Forum, where bold startups pitched groundbreaking solutions ready to reshape the future of food.
Each event Sploro participated in this May reaffirmed our mission: to empower innovation through accessible, impactful EU funding. We want innovators to trust us as a reliable partner on their journey, helping bold ideas become reality. Our goal is to make the present future-ready by supporting solutions that are inclusive, secure, and focused on people and the planet.
