On December 18th and 19th, the SPADE consortium, comprising leading technological centres, companies, and partners such as Sploro, convened in Berlin to assess progress, strengthen collaboration, and launch the next phase of developing sustainable digital services. These services are designed to benefit a diverse range of end users in agriculture, forestry, and livestock sectors.
The two-day event marked the conclusion of the second period of the Programme. Sploro, represented by David Rodríguez, was proud to contribute to this milestone, which solidified the challenges initiated during the first open call and set the stage for the Programme’s next advancements.
Berlin, with its vibrant energy and festive atmosphere leading up to Christmas, provided an inspiring backdrop for this significant gathering.
The first day focused on summarizing the progress achieved over the past year. Work package leaders from the consortium presented updates and contributions addressing key challenges such as deforestation, precision cropping, and animal welfare.
Engaging panel discussions explored ways to enhance SPADE’s digital platform, digital twin and drone technologies, edge computing capabilities, and dissemination strategies. The day concluded with a traditional German dinner, strengthening relationships among consortium members and fostering the exchange of ideas to lay the groundwork for the next phase.
The second day combined reflections on the technical achievements stemming from SPADE’s first open call with strategic planning for the development of final solutions. These sessions celebrated the consortium’s successes so far and focused on advancing the three use cases (crops, forestry, and livestock) into real, scalable, and affordable solutions for European providers and end-users.
The SPADE 2nd Plenary Session highlighted the consortium’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technological innovation and sustainability. It set a strong foundation for the Programme’s next phase, underscoring the collective effort to achieve cutting-edge solutions for the challenges ahead.
