We’ve introduced two new improvements to the Cascade Funding Matcher. Both are now live, and if you’ve already created a profile there’s nothing you need to update. Simply run a new search to see the latest results.

A quick reminder: what the Matcher does
The Cascade Funding Matcher connects your organisation’s profile with the most relevant cascade funding calls in Europe. By describing your organisation (including your sector, technologies, country, and funding interests), the Matcher analyses every call in its database and provides:
- Ranked funding opportunities
- Match scores with clear explanations
- Eligibility checks
- Tailored strategic recommendations
Now it does more.
New: Discover upcoming opportunities before they open
Until now, the Matcher focused on active cascade funding calls. It still does, but it now also identifies forthcoming calls that match your organisation’s profile before they officially open.
There are already 43 upcoming calls available in the system.
Why does this matter? Because the organisations that do best in competitive funding rounds aren’t the ones who find out the day a call opens, they’re the ones who’ve been preparing for months. This gives organisations more time to prepare. Instead of waiting until a call is published, you can start planning ahead, identify potential partners, refine your project idea, and be ready when applications open.
While the Cascade Funding website helps you explore currently open opportunities, the Matcher now also helps you plan for what’s coming next.
New: Sharper matching, less generic advice
We’ve also improved how the Matcher analyses search results and generates recommendations.
The latest version combines AI reasoning with machine learning classification. AI provides contextual understanding of your organisation and the funding opportunities, while machine learning helps identify patterns across large datasets of cascade funding calls.
The result is more accurate matching, clearer eligibility assessments, and recommendations that are more specific to your organisation and the opportunities identified.
If previous results felt a little off, re-run the search. You’ll notice the difference.

Whether a call is open today or forthcoming, every result comes with a transparent breakdown across four dimensions:
- Domain Alignment. How closely the call’s thematic focus matches your activity.
- Technology Match. Whether your specific technologies are in scope.

- Description Fit. How well your organisation’s profile aligns with what the call is designed to support.
